COMPETITION TEAM

We have an award-winning competitive company that is focused on technique and advancing our dancers to a pre-professional/professional level. Competitive dance at LDP is by audition only and for the more serious dancer. We now offer a secondary tier of commitment for dancers wishing to dance more than recreationally, but not ready for the full company requirements. This less time-intense competitive program is our Troupe. All interested dancers should attend auditions for proper placement. Upon request, we can assess your dancer and make class recommendations to prepare them for the annual June auditions. 

We offer competitive levels for ages 5 through 18. Competition company members must participate in at least three local competitions and two conventions a year, as well as an out-of-state Nationals. Our youngest dancers (Prep team) are not required to attend Nationals. Additional company commitments include a minimum of three group dances (Studio Director determines routine selections) and all required weekly technique classes and rehearsal. Depending on the age of the dancer, these minimum requirements can range from 4 - 12+ hours per week. Troupe members can expect 4-6 hours of weekly required classes, plus rehearsals to learn their 1-2 competition routines. These will perform at two regional competitions.
